Rescue organizations rescue, evaluate, and re-home Golden Retrievers. They can be an excellent alternative to purchasing a puppy from a breeder. Rescue organizations evaluate the dogs they take in, and carefully screen potential homes to make sure a good match is made.
Rescue goldens can range in age, anywhere from puppyhood through to older adults.
There are also All-Breed rescues in Canada which will take in various breeds, including goldens, for evaluation and placement.
Rescue organizations are always in need of volunteers, donations of cash and dog equipment (crates, leashes, etc). Contact your local organization to see how you may help.
