I don’t know if POTP works for humans but my dad is very ill in the hospital. And he’s having a bone scan today. Can we give it a try? Connor got it started.

    Thanks!

Thanks everyone!!! I think POTP helped because now they’re saying that his prostate is enlarged not cancerous. He will probably go home today which makes him very happy. Still waiting for the results of the bone scan.

I will keep you posted but please ask your goldens to keep those paws crossed (only sleeping and sitting, not when they are walking and running!) 🙂

The diagnosis has changed since I last wrote. The bone scan results show cancer in his collar bone, rib, thigh and hip. He has primary cancer in his prostate, rectum and possibly the bladder. He starts 10 days of radiation therapy next week.

But he is home now and not in pain. So please keep those paws crossed and the POTP coming> he will need it as he starts treatment>

Thanks to all for letting me share and for your support>

    Thank you for asking!

My dad developed a kidney infection on top of everything else. His kidneys were barely functioning and they were going to do a procedure to drain them. Then the antibiotics seemed to kick in and his kidneys are now getting a bit better each day. When I saw him on Wednesday, he had trouble recognizing me. On Friday he looked like his old self and was talking hockey and football and wasn’t confused at all!

He still has 3-4 kinds of cancer to fight and a few other issues but the kidneys are crucial to determining if he can go home.

So please keep that power of the paw coming! He needs every paw he can get.

Nancy, Praying that your dad gets to go home, I am sure that is what he wants. He will be much more comfortable at home. All the medication they give a cancer patient definitely does mess up their mind. Just keep talking to him especially about sports if that is what he likes. Spend as much time as you can with him, you will be so glad that you did. Sending a big hug to you too. Hope it helps.

I know I haven’t been on here much lately. I do appreciate all the concern for my dad and all those big golden paws sent his way.

He has really turned things around! He’s like his old self. He has a walker but gets around like a champ. He has a catheter and bag but it doesn’t bother him. His oncologist says his cancer “isn’t angry” which means it isn’t spreading. In fact I think it is showing signs of remission. He had a minor urinary infection a couple of weeks ago but that’s all cleared up now.

These days he’s enjoying the hockey playoffs. 🙂 Today mom and dad went to Arby’s for lunch (one of his fav places and then to the Regent Casino where they met some of their mall walking friends.

When I remember how sick and weak he looked last summer and fall, I can’t believe how much better he is today. It really was a Power of the Paw miracle!
